Delete your Cuenco account
This page explains how to ask for your Cuenco account and the data linked to it to be deleted. It applies to the iPhone app and the Android app, which share the same account, and you can ask without having the app installed.
This is a translation; in case of discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.
1. From the app: deleted straight away
- Open Cuenco and go to the Settings tab.
- Scroll down to Delete my account, just below Your data.
- In the Delete your account? prompt, confirm with Delete.
If you do not have a subscription yet and the app shows you the subscription screen, you can also delete it from there without paying: tap Account and data, at the bottom of that screen, and then Delete my account. That link appears once you have signed in with Apple, with Google or with an email link.
Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. If you want to keep your data first, Export my data is under Your data.
2. Without the app: by email
Write to contacto@cuencoapp.com from the email address you signed in to Cuenco with (the one on your Apple or Google account, or the one the sign-in link was sent to) and ask for your account to be deleted.
We check that the address belongs to an account, delete it and reply to confirm. We do this within 30 days at most of receiving your email.
If you signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, the account holds the relay address Apple gave you, not your real email, so we cannot recognise you by email: delete it from the app.
3. If you used Cuenco without signing in
If you started using the app without signing in, your account is a trial session with no email: it holds nothing that lets us know it is yours, so we cannot identify it or delete it by email. It can only be deleted from the app, with the steps above. If you uninstall the app without deleting it, we have no way to recognise it as yours.
4. What is deleted
When the account is deleted, the following are permanently removed:
- the account: its internal identifier, the linked email address and the sign-ins;
- your pets, with their profile, photo and weight history;
- your analyses and scans, with the score, the breakdown and the text read from the labels;
- which food each pet eats and since when, and the bags you logged;
- your daily check-ins, with their notes;
- the products you contributed, approved or not, with their photos, and the barcode–product pairs you saved when you picked a product in the search;
- your pet’s photo and the photos of the products you contributed, from the storage where they were kept;
- your subscription status (whether it was active and its expiry date) that Cuenco keeps in its database.
Scheduled reminders and any PDF report you created are deleted from the device on which you delete the account.
5. What is kept and for how long
- The counter of out-of-scope products (for example cat food, which Cuenco does not score yet): the product’s barcode, the rule that left it out and the date are kept, with no link to your account, to know how many attempts there are. It is kept without a time limit because it is no longer your data.
- Products you contributed that have already joined the catalogue after review: they are product data, with no link to your account, and stay in the catalogue.
- App usage telemetry uses a random identifier generated on the device, never your account’s or your email, so it cannot be tied to you and there is nothing to delete by account. It is kept according to the PostHog retention policy described in the privacy policy.
6. The subscription: deleting the account does not cancel it
Deleting the account does not cancel the subscription. It is cancelled in Google Play (Android) or in the App Store (iPhone), and it is best to do so before deleting the account: in the app, with Manage Subscription in Settings.
The purchase history is kept by Google Play or Apple, under their own policies. RevenueCat, which manages the subscription, keeps the purchase record linked to the internal identifier your account had, not to your email. If you ask for deletion by email, we also remove it from RevenueCat. If you delete from the app and want it removed there too, ask by email before deleting the account.
